Hello friends!
So I don’t know how well you handled the heat last week….
or if you handled it at all in fact.
I sort of did, in the laziest way imaginable.
Hiding either in the air-conditioned rooms at work or my own bedroom, I averted my gaze from my oven and avoided cooking, baking, and pretty much any food prep for the entire week.
Though I survived on microwave meals, this risotto, and takeout Thai Food, it did leave me with no new sweet treats to share with you!
(Cue collective sounds of disappointment)
But fear not!
In preparation for this heat-induced laziness, I contacted my best blogging buddies, as well as some of my much-admired food bloggers, to see if I could compile a fantastic recipe roundup featuring frozen treats.
Never have I wanted an ice cream maker more than this past week!
To make ice cream without a maker, there are some fantastic links here on TheKitchn.
For the rest of you with attachments for KitchenAid Mixers or stand alone machines, here are some “cool” treats to keep you “chilling” all week long!
I’d say sorry for all the cold puns, but I’M NOT!
Teehee.
It’s too hot to even roll one’s eyes at my lame jokes. So I am going to stick with them.
Enough talk! Let’s dig into these heat-beating sweet treats!
Let’s begin with this absolutely decadent cake batter milkshake from Jaclyn of Cooking Classy! Because I’d like to have my cake, and drink it in frozen form, too.
For all of my of-age readers, Joy the Baker has the perfect Happy Hour Hot Fudge Milkshake to cool things down at the end of a long day.
Next, Ramona of Curry and Comfort lightens things up with these fresh and fruity Tutti Frutti Popsicles! I’ll have one of each, please!
It can’t get any fresher than this Homemade Strawberry Ice Cream from Felicia of Dish by Dish!
You read that right: there’s AVOCADO in this ice cream! Who knew ice cream could be this creamy?! Brought to you by the lovely Jocelyn of InsideBruCrewLife.
Here’s a classic we all need in our repertoire: mint chocolate chip ice cream. Ashley of Cookie Monster Cooking turns it into an even more out-of-sight cake if you want to check it out on her site!
Mmmmmm how do we make truffles even more delectable? Make them out of ice cream, and roll them in Oreos. That’s how! No one does it better than Ali of Gimme Some Oven.
Now it’s time to head into the decadent area of cheesecake meets frozen desserts! First up is Miss Georgia of The Comfort of Cooking with these Raspberry Cheesecake Popsicles. I don’t know about you, but cheesecake on a stick sounds pretty good to me!
But cheesecake in a bowl, in ice cream form, with blueberries, sounds just as good as well! Oh and did I mention this recipe, by Meg of TakeaMegaBite, has goat cheese in it?!
I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty much cravings all of these now.
Whoops.
Oh well. I hope I helped you find some delicious ways to keep cool this summer! I’ll see you later this week when the weather hopefully cools down a tad.
Happy Baking!
