Hello friends!
So this post is about some wonderfully inspiring, baking-related goodies I purchased from the online store Shop Sweet Lulu.
But before we get into that – I need to vent about how I am now emotionally scarred from an animal encounter.
While making some delicious doughnuts yesterday, I decided to take out the garbage like a good housemate.
I journey onto the porch, garbage in hand, and after throwing it into one of the cans outside, I behold the largest possum I have ever seen, staring at me from the garbage can farthest away from me.
Friends, I kid you not, this was a HUGE,
dare I say MONSTROUS
possum.
We sort of just stared at each other for a few minutes before it decided to slowly open its mouth and show me it’s tiny terrifying teeth.
That was the precise moment that I ran back inside the house while stifling a small scream.
WHY DID IT SHOW ME ITS TEETH?!
I think it wanted a piece of me. :O
Ugh. So then I spent a good portion of the day deciding whether or not to call animal control or just see if it got itself out of my garbage and frankly out of my life forever.
Hours after attempting to call animal control I finally receive a voice mail informing me that it costs over $100 to remove the animal.
It was too late to call them back, but I sort of hope the torrential downpour last night sent the giant critter away.
Hope? Jess didn’t you look and see if it was still there this morning?
Noooooooo way, my friend. Just let me have this Friday be critter-free please.
Now we are going to talk about cute and colorful baking items because it will keep my mind off crazy maniacal animals trying to rent out my garbage cans.
We all need a little inspiration now and again to keep us motivated, and with running a blog I find that can come from the little details.
Perhaps a cupcake is cute, but the liners are drab, or your photos need a little sprucing up with a few props here and there.
That’s where stores like Shop Sweet Lulu come in!
I have been ogling their site for ages now and I can’t tell you how excited I was to have these goodies arrive on my doorstep a few days ago.
I find their prices to be quite affordable, and it arrived two days after I placed the order, even though I only paid for standard shipping. 
So as you can see, we have a multitude of what I consider to be wonderful investments for food photography:
a) a tiny milk jug (because everyone needs one of these for obvious reasons…)
b) colorful stripey straws
c) various adorable cupcake liners
d) biodegradable (hells yes eco-friendly!) berry baskets, for all those summer fruit-inspired posts
e) and some treat bags (you know, for doughnuts to spill out of and stuff…)
My mind is now in a much happier place imagining all the wonderful photos I will take with these new props and products for inspiration.
Perhaps if I focus on the berry baskets, the possum will just disappear.
Eeek.
